Making Change

To calculate the amount of change that should be given: • Subtract the cost from the amount given

Change should be made using the smallest number of bills and coins possible. We do this by counting up.

Example

Marcus bought a new action figure for $17.73. He gave the cashier $20.00. How much change should he receive?

$ Given: $20.00 - Cost: - $17.73 Change: $ 2.27
