Changing Mixed Numbers to Improper Fractions

To change a mixed number to an improper fraction: • Multiply the denominator by the whole number • Add the numerator to the product • Write the sum as the numerator • Keep the denominator

Hint: the word “of” in math is often used to mean multiplication.
