Rounding to the nearest cent means rounding to the nearest hundredths.

Division with Rounding

To round when dividing: • Divide to one decimal place more than needed • Round • Use the “approximately equal to” symbol

11 ÷ 6 (nearest tenth) 5 ÷ 7 (nearest hundredth) ≈1.8 ≈ 0.71

55.56 ÷ 4 (nearest whole number) $87.55 ÷ 2 (nearest cent) ≈ 14 ≈ $43.78
